A Comparison of techniques used to enhance natural diamonds

HADAR CLARITY ENHANCED DIAMONDS (CE)
Using state-of-the-art technology, a CE diamond is "filled" with beauty when fissure or feather like inclusions are internally coated with a transparent diamond like substance, making them invisible. The clarity, fire and brilliance of the diamond is dramatically improved (inclusions that had impeded light refraction are gone.) The amount of material used to fill the inclusion(s) is minute and does not add any weight to the diamond. This highly sophisticated technique is very durable, stable and guaranteed to last a lifetime. LASER DRILLED CE DIAMONDS
Laser drilling is used to remove carbon-like inclusions found in many diamonds by creating a microscopic tunnel from the surface of the diamond to reach and eliminate any number of black inclusions. If necessary, acid is injected into the tunnel to bleach the inclusion, enhancing the stone's appeal. The new laser hole becomes an extension of the original inclusion. Laser drilling is not detrimental to the durability of the stone. However, additional inclusions are created by the laser, thus having a negative impact on light refraction and brilliance of the diamond. It is very rare for a lasered diamond to achieve a clarity grade above S12. Comparable laser treated diamonds cost more than CE diamonds. Hadar markets lasered diamonds upon request.

IRRADIATION
Many undesirable diamonds with a strong yellow hue are upgraded to exotic fancy yellow status using irradiation. Color Enhancement can also produce blue and fancy cognac diamonds. Color enhancing coupled with clarity enhancing has proven to be incompatible. GE (General Electric) has announced a new development to color enhance diamonds elevating the process to another level by making it undetectable and permanent. As of writing GE has not made these stones available to the jewelry trade. We will keep you informed as these diamonds become commercially available.
